It's random, lovely, full of misspelled words and terrible punctuation. It's about me, Erin, my family and friends, in real life. There's sugar but no sugar coating.
"Come what may, and love it!......Yet in spite of discouragement and adversity, those who are happiest seem to have a way of learning from difficult times, becoming stronger, wiser, and happier as a result." ~ Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin
I was down stairs this morning when I heard a little cry from Asher (who was in my bed)
I went up and snuggled beside him to see if he would go back to sleep.
A few second later I hear him singing.
The only word I could understand was "help".
Later in the morning as I was making muffins he was singing it again.
I recognized the "help" again and try to put the rest together.
I figured out he was singing I Am A Child of God.
This is what I could catch on video. A little hard to hear with Noah singing Bob the Builder in the background.
Stinkin' cute!
Here's a little bit of our Halloween.
Trick or treaters ready to go.
Asher loves tootsie rolls.
We had a party on Wednesday for the youth. I was a witch and ended up with the bandanna from the hitting the pinata on my head.
It's true that I feel like this is the best of motherhood so far. Also true that I'm worried about Asher weight gain again. and true that Noah loves to "make concrete" (this would consist of water, soap, and whatever he can find in the kitchen).. not my favorite mess to clean up. Heath's out hunting this morning. Hope he gets one so he doesn't have to go out tomorrow.
Asher would grab the slimy seeds and say, "pinch" to try to "shoot" them. I'll give you one guess who taught him that.
This is a picture of a robot that Noah drew. Pretty good, heh?
I know, pretty cute looking family! Don't judge. This blog is called erin in real life. In real life, I don't fix my hair and wear makeup all the time.
ok, Maybe this is too close but I wanted you to see the pumpkin on Asher's face (he thought he might taste it) and not so much my uneven skin or messy hair.
It's true that it's hunting season. Also, true that Asher is totally done with his splint and has only gained one pound in the last 6 months. Ugh!
this is my 202nd post. crazy!
Ever think that if you leave a mess long enough that it might just clean itself?
Don't ever think that. It won't.
We got Noah's Halloween costume. He's been wearing it around and excited about it. I hope trick or treating this year will go a little better than last year.
He watched a few Iron Man cartoons and now he says that the costume is Iron Man. So we go with it. He does quiz me when he puts the suit on. He says, "what's my name?"
Asher's going to be a monkey for Halloween. No, his costume isn't on in this picture but he sure is cute eating his banana.
Grandpa Gary (that's what Noah calls him) came with his digger thing and Noah kept wanting to sit on it. So, he let him and he let him work the controls too. He loved it.
My first ever loaf of gluten free bread. It didn't turn out the greatest but it was pretty good. Heath liked it enough and first thing he did was make grilled cheese sandwiches. That made him happy. He's been feeling like he's starving lately with almost everything having gluten in it. We're getting there. Plus, he LOVES sandwiches.

Went grocery shopping last night. Saved $107.99 with weekly specials, coupons, and foodperks.
I also have $6 to spend on my next shopping trip, 2 coupons for a free gallon of milk (which I won't use because I get raw milk from a near by farm if anyone wants them - for Giant Eagle) and $.30 in fuelperks.
Last night on the way home a good song came on.
I looked around the car and everyone was bobbing their head.
It was a kind of funny family bonding moment.
I have one pumpkin in my garden. just one.
It will not be carved. It's a sugar pumpkin so I hope to make a pie. A thanksgiving pie maybe.
We went to Wegmans this morning. My favorite grocery store.
They have yummy french vanilla muffins topped with powdered sugar in the bakery.
I get one pretty much every time.
I wish is was closer.
It's true that the cereal on top of the Dunder Mifflin break room refrigerator is Wegman's brand. Also true that we went to yard sales on Saturday (found some sweet treasures).
Asher's 1st Halloween
Noah's 1st Halloween.
It's that time of year again. Any good costume ideas? I think Noah wants to be Darth Vader.
Noah's first day of school was Thursday. I might have been more nervous than he was. He did great. He walked in and looked at all the kids and all the toys and decided it was all right. Today when I walked him into class he started crying. I felt bad for him but they told me the quicker I leave the easier it will be for him. I waited around the corner from his class room until he stopped crying which didn't take too long.
He's so little and cute.
Burnin' down the house...Erin started the fire! OK, so, the county we live in always does trick or treating on the Thursday night before Halloween and gives the kids Friday off of school. We went over to Deric and Heidi's house last night to take Noah trick or treating and to carve pumpkins. Well, Noah got this cute treat bag for his birthday from the Nazelrod's. The Nazelrod's stopped by and I had the bag in my hand and for some reason I put it down right on top of a lit candle. We were all standing outside when Chris says, "um...something is on fire...No, REALLY!" We turn around and sure enough flames. Heath ended up getting it outside right after Heidi threw it on their hard wood floor to stomp it out.:) The damage wasn't too bad. Just a spot on their desk and the candle didn't look too great. It could have been a lot worse. That was a stinkin' cute treat bag that Michelle made. I'll never live that one down (kind of like the mashed potato story).
Dear Michelle, I'm sorry I caught the really cute treat bag you made on fire. Please forgive me! Your Friend, Erin P.
My husband the artist.
The cutest frog in the whole entire wide world.
Noah was not too into trick or treating this year. He didn't want to wear his cute scarecrow costume but he went for camo pj's instead.
The cute scarecrow costume.
Heath wasn't too into trick or treating either so Heidi went with us. Thanks Heidi we love you!
On Thursday night in some of the small townships the fire department comes out and sounds a siren to begin the trick or treating. It lasts an hour to an hour and a half depending of the township and cute old ladies sit outside on their front porches with bowls of candy.
We have been using theives essential oil to help avoid the swine flu. No luck on getting our hands on the vaccine just yet.
Noah is still saying funny things, Asher knows how to get attention by coughing, I mowed the lawn today, and I'm tired. It's true that I think it's funny that in the movie Cheaper By The Dozen the kids don't know what grounded is until the Dad is "in charge". Also true that my house is a mess and I'm getting priorities in order.
He's a Grad student. He makes pots. He likes hunting and hanging out with his boys. You can visit his blog at www.checkoutmyblogatmyblog.blogspot.com (or click the picture).
"We artist are indestructible, even in a prison cell or a concentration camp I would be almighty in my own world of art. Even if I had to paint my pictures with my wet tongue on the dusty floor of my cell." - Pablo Picasso
Asher helps me develop faith. He has a nerve injury on his right arm. He also has trouble gaining weight. He sees an occupational therapist 2 times a week. He is sweet and shy but has a funny personality.
this is our story.
i called him. he said yes. he kissed me. i said, "i love you." he said, "i like you twelve." (that equals i love you.) he said "will you?" i said, "yes". we got married. he started school. we had noah. i became a mom. he became an artist. we moved to pa. he became a grad student. then came asher and i became the mom of 2. we moved back to utah. he became a teacher. me? the mom of three. we are happy. we are blessed.
